Special Events

Every year Wolfe’s Neck Farm holds a variety of special events in order to raise funds to support the Farm. These events are planned and run by the Friends of the Farm Committee and dedicated volunteers. Ticket sales, contributions by individuals and business sponsorships underwrite many of the costs of the events. The success of these events is essential to the financial health of the Farm. We hope you will participate in one or all of them to support our fundraising efforts.

April brings our largest event – The Spring Gala and Auction. The dinner party and auction is held at the Harraseeket Inn and features a widely-acclaimed meal of Wolfe’s Neck Natural Beef. In addition to a Silent Auction, there is a Live Auction which offers a wide range of valuable items, trips, and fun activities.

May is a month for gardening. The volunteer gardening group holds a plant and garden book sale. The plants are donated from our members’ gardens and the books come from the book shelves of some of Wolfe’s Neck’s Master Gardeners. Get your garden off to a good start with healthy plants.

June offers the ArtFest. Held in the center of Freeport at the Old Town Hall and adjacent park, 50 artists and crafters exhibit and sell their work. It is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate and support our local artists.

October is a busy month at WNF. Every weekend we offer Pumpkin Hayrides for children. Then a special Harvest Weekend is held featuring children’s programs during the day and the Barn Dance in the evening. For the dance, our historic Mallet Barn is beautifully decorated by volunteers, a delicious barbecue dinner with Wolfe’s Neck Natural Beef is served , a live band provides great dance music and Gritty’s serves adult beverages.

December brings our Annual Night Tree Program and Chili Lunch. The Night Tree Program gives children the opportunity to make natural tree decorations for the birds. They then decorate trees along our hiking trails, enjoy a bonfire, and listen to a reading of the children’s classic “The Night Tree”. A Chili Lunch is offered along with a Bake Sale. This is a wonderful family day for all ages.

We hope you will join us for these activities; they are planned to appeal to a wide range of ages and interests. If you would like to volunteer to help with a special event, please see the Volunteer page on this website.
