What Can We Expect To Do?

Spring Gala - May 7th, 2011
The Spring Gala, held annuallly at the Harraseeket Inn, is an excellent reason to suit up for an evening out.  The event starts with a silent auction, a perfect chance to mingle and catch up with friends.  The next course is an elegant dinner, during which the results of the silent auction are available.  Finally, a live auction is conducted with remarkable ticket items that range from fancy dinners to international trips.  The evening's proceeds are used by the Farm to continue providing educational and recreational opportunities to the public.

Spring Festival - May 14th, 2011
Enjoy the warming weather by attending our family friendly Spring Celebration.  We invite local farms and other organizations to participate in our celebration and provide activities, crafts, games, and demonstrations.  In past years, activities have included seed planting, felting, a scavenger hunt, nature weaving, crafts, and more.  The Spring Celebration offers food, music, education and fun! The Spring Celebration costs $5 per person or $20 for a family.

Art Fest - June 18th, 2011
Each summer, the Farm welcomes artists to select picturesque settings around Wolfe's Neck and create artwork inspired by the beauty that they find.  This work culminates in our Art Fest, in which these plein air pieces and other works from local artists are sold in an open market setting at the Farm.  The works range from the paintings of Wolfe's Neck to ceramics and jewelry.  Whether you take home a view of our Farm or just enjoy a day outdoors, the Art Fest is an enjoyable excuse to visit Wolfe's Neck Farm.

Shakespeare By The Bay - July 23rd, 2011
Join us in July as we partner with Freeport Shakespeare Festival to present Shakespeare by The Bay.  This new tradition provides a touch of the old as players take the stage out on our wedding field, a spectacular venue for the bard's masterpieces.  The evening includes a banquet and entertainment; last year's event highlighted monologues and scenes from several of Shakespeare's plays.  Register in advance to secure your seats for this treat.

September Golf Outing - September 13th, 2011
Grab your clubs and hit the links!  Join Wolfe's Neck Farm for our annual Golf Outing at Highland Greens in Topsham.  After you organize a team of four, the day is organized as a scramble.  Prizes are awarded for low gross, low net, closest to the pin and longest drive.  Registration also includes a lunch featuring local beef.

Harvest Dance - September 24th, 2011
The historic Mallett Barn provides the venue for our annual Harvest Dance, and evening of food and fun for grown ups.  Get your tickets early, as a delicious dinner from Buck's Naked BBQ  is limited and has sold out in past years.  After dinner, enjoy beverages from Gritty's as the music and dancing gear up for the evening. This year, prepare to get up and get down to the sounds of Sean Mencher and His Rhythm Kings. The Harvest Dance is a wonderful way to enjoy the season, the Farm, and a night out with friends.

Pumpkin Hayrides (October)

Our Pumpkin Hayrides run every weekend in October, Saturday and Sunday leaving on the hour from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Meet at the Little River Farmhouse and climb aboard the tractor for a ride out to our pumpkin patch.  There you will learn about the life cycle of pumpkins and pick out your favorite pumpkin to take home with you.  On the ride back to the farm, enjoy an apple from local orchard Sweetser's Apple Barrel and Orchards.  Pumpkin Hayrides are $6 per person or $20 for a family.

Fall Festival - October 15th, 2011
Our Fall Festival is a celebration of the year's harvest.  Similar to the Spring Celebration, we cooperate with local farms and organizations to provide activities including seed saving, hay climbing, horse team demonstrations, pumpkin decorating and more.  We also run pumpkin hayrides during the festival - take a tractor ride out to our pumpkin patch and pick your favorite pumpkin.  The Fall Festival also offers hot food and lively music.  This is a great educational afternoon for families. The 2010 Fall Festival was a hit...read about the day in Travelling Momma's blog.  The Fall Festival costs $5 per person or $20 for a family.

The Night Tree - December 3rd, 2011
A holiday tradition for children, our Night Tree event is inspired by Eve Bunting's book The Night Tree.  Her story is about a family that feeds the forest animals by making decorations for a special tree.  Each hour during the day, we read her story together, and then decorate pinecones with birdseed and string popcorn, dried fruit and cranberries.  We take a short hike on the trails to leave these tasty treats in our woods for the animals.  This event costs $5 per child.  Online registration will be available shortly.

Winter Community Forum (January - April)
Our Winter speaker series is The Forum is a series of presentations and films paired with local food and community discussions.  Each year we pick a different topic such as local food, energy, or sustainability and resilience.  We hope you will join us for these exciting events!

Do It Yourself Classes (January - March)
Our Do It Yourself classes emphasize learning by doing.  We know that we all learn best with our hands dirty - building the chicken coop, making the cheese, and canning the preserves.  These classes are a relaxed, hands-on way to learn new skills, whether you are a novice or an experienced gardener, farmer, baker, cook, or homesteader.
