|Summer Camp FAQ|
What is Summer Day Camp like?
We believe in encouraging kids to learn by doing - even our youngest children help to care for the animals daily!
Our days are full: working in the barn and gardens, singing and acting silly, learning about the natural world, creating skits during theater time, playing games, creating arts and crafts, carrying out science experiments. Through these and more we learn about each other and the world around us!
This sounds great! How do I sign my camper up?
Once you are ready to sign up for camp, you can click here to register online. You can also download the registration form and send it in. You can pay in full today, or pay a $25 (non-refundable) deposit. Paying in full is easiest as it keeps our administrative costs down and saves you time.
What is your payment policy?
• In order to keep our price and administrative costs down payment at time of registration is preferred. A non-refundable $25.00 deposit is due per camper, per week at time of registration, and will be applied towards camp cost.
• Full payment is due by May 15th or at the time of registration if after May 15th. We reserve the right to cancel camp reservations not paid after May 15th.
• Refunds are given for cancellations made before May 15th, less the $25/week deposit. Refunds for cancellations made after May 15th will be at the discretion of the Education Director.
• Tuition will not be refunded for campers who leave camp for behavioral reasons.
What kind of scholarships are available?
We are lucky enough to be able to provide several need-based scholarships for campers. If interested, please download our Scholarship Application. If you wish to donate to the scholarship fund, please call us at 207-865-4469. Thank you!
Does the Farm offer Extended Care?
We are happy to offer Before and After Care for parents whose work schedule won't allow for the 8:15 - 8:30am drop off and/or 4:00pm pick up. However, we do not offer After Care for the Peapods AM program.
Before Care is from 7:30am to 8:30am and costs $20 per week.
After Care is from 4pm to 5:30pm, and costs $30 per week.
When is Camp?
We offer weekly sessions (Monday through Friday) from June 24 - August 30th, 2013.
Many parents ask if camp changes from week to week. The short answer is both "yes" and "no" - we figure that camp is between 40% and 60% the same from week to week: the lambs need to be fed every day, and building fairy houses in the woods is always fun. That being said, we can learn different things every time we care for animals, hike in the woods, or explore the shore.
The long answer is while particular activities will occur in the same places, and while we may play some of the same games, we like to switch things up each week! This is especially true over the course of the summer as the animals get older (week old chicks are three inches tall, but two month old birds are full grown!). The same is true as the garden grows (we plant in June but harvest and cook with produce throughout July and August).
